Proverbs 11:25 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
At the beginning of this week I found myself unable to sleep. God had created a restlessness in me until I was prepared to listen. He had begun to place something on my heart.
So I got up and went downstairs to find a quiet place. God put two words in my mind and then showed me how I could use them.
Just like a child might persistently try to gain attention from an adult, so does our Heavenly Father from us in a soft and loving way.
How many of us recognise his call in our hearts? How many of us respond? I could so easily have ignored this prompt turned over and tried to go to sleep, admittedly as I have done so before. This time His persistence to gain my attention seemed stronger and so I got up to go and find my quiet place.
God wanted me to listen. He wanted me to draw near and I wanted to be obedient. God wanted me to surrender myself in order that I may grow in my relationship with him and to show me how I might grow my relationships with others, especially with mums, parents and carers, within our church toddler group I help to run.
It is now 2am and many of you may think “What on earth are you up at this time for? I’d like to say “I don’t know!” But I do.
In my busy life, where there is not much quietness and stillness throughout the day, God chose that this would be some time for me.
I set about looking for verses which I could use to bless others. I feel greatly a desire to bless others in a practical way.
1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of Gods varied grace.
‘Bless you’ were the two words God gave to me to use for others.
I am in a correspondence group for mums journeying with Jesus. I asked if anyone was in need of prayer. In these early hours 3 mums responded. All with young children and for various reasons were not able to get to sleep either. A fourth lady who responded to my message said this: “Bless you. But why are you awake?” Wow those exact words given by God. For those ladies I had been an answer to their prayers and was able to bless them.
I’ve had time to read the Word and time to write and found myself blessed. I perhaps haven’t found exactly what I set out to look for or have I? I found what God was wanting me to look for and receive and for this I am thankful.
So as you all awake and begin your day, may I thank God for all that you will receive and “ may God’s blessings shine upon you”.
“I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

‘Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.’ Matthew 11 v 28′
“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 Chronicles 16 v 9.
‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’ Jeremiah 29 v 11
